Press Release
July 5, 2005 Tape Ministries NW Celebrates the Taping of Our 1000th Book! Twenty-five years ago, a group of women offered to record their favorite Christian books so they could share them with a blind friend. They didn’t know that this simple gesture of friendship would be the seed of a national ministry. With God’s blessing, Tape Ministries NW has grown, and now serves reading-disabled patrons in 47 states! One book at a time, our wonderful volunteer narrators have recorded 1000 Christian books--fiction and non-fiction, some theological, some devotional, and some just for fun--to share the joy of reading and the love of God.
At the age of 15, Jennifer Rothschild learned that, for her, "Blindness is inevitable... and God is enough." Jennifer has written an inspiring book, filled with warmth, humor, and the guiding principles that have helped her live out her faith. She shares how she dealt with fear and disappointment, to overcome the real hurdles in her life. Jennifer’s book will bring hope to anyone going through difficult circumstances. She challenges readers to walk by faith, not by sight.
When Jennifer and Phillip heard Michelle’s tape of Lessons I Learned in the Dark, they wrote us, "We are thrilled with what you did with Jennifer's book. Your reader was absolutely wonderful and we feel like she represents Jennifer's heart, message, and personality so wonderfully. Thank you!" Tape Ministries NW is grateful for all the wonderful churches and friends who have prayed, given and volunteered to make possible 1000 books and 25 years of service to the blind.
