John "reads" tapes as fast as he can

John At the age of 90, John says, "I’m only young once, so I must enjoy it!"

John was born in Norway in 1914 but grew up in Yakima. His work in construction took him to all 50 states. John remembers, "Lots of good things have happened to me."

John and his wife had three sons together. She died two years ago and he now lives alone in an apartment in north Seattle, across the street from his church. His son helps him shop and pay the bills.

John says, "Four years ago macular degeneration left me blind in my left eye and with only partial sight in my right eye.

"I really appreciate the books from Tape Ministries. They keep me busy and I read them as fast as I can. I try to make a little contribution now and then because it costs money for tapes and equipment.

"I knew narrator Maxine Williams when I was in college! My favorite books are biographies and missionary stories, though I also enjoyed the series by Janette Oke.

"I enjoy the books so much. Thank you! Keep up the good work!"
